DIY Louis Vuitton-Inspired Shoe Rack

I've been wanting to build my own custom-made shoe rack for a very long time. It took me a long time to decide how I wanted to do it. One day I was talking to my [very creative] friend, Heather, at work and she gave me the awesome idea of using these wooden boxes that they throw away at work. So I asked the guys to save me a few instead of throwing them away.

So that's what the boxes look like on the outside. They had some stickers I had to remove but other than than they were perfect because they are made of a very sturdy bare wood which was a perfect canvas for my paint. Of course I had to sand them down a little to get rid of dirt but other than that, they were perfect. Here is the inside:

Now, to my delight, they were already divided on the inside too and I came to realize I could fit 2 pairs of shoes. By now I was convinced this was meant to be!

It was like a match made in heaven! Now I just had to sand and paint them. I was going to paint it just white but then I had an epiphany! Since this was going to be home to my shoes, why not honor one of my favorite shoe designers, Louis Vuitton, and use the famous Black-Red combination!

So, when I went to buy the paint, I got a 2-in-1 paint and primer which was on sale at the time and I got a $10 rebate! So all-in-all I ended up paying $32 for both the black and red paint!

I also bought a couple brushes--cheap ones-- and sand paper which totaled up to $6.

I had to do a few tweaks in my room decor to match the black/white/green theme but it all worked out in the end! So for $28 I got me a custom made shoe rack! I can't wait till next month when I get more boxes so I can make it bigger and add more of my shoes!

Now if you want to build your own show rack for cheap all you gotta do is find a company that throws away wooden boxes or even just wood! Good luck! YOU CAN DIY!!!
